i was thinking about this the other day.
the society likes to call all those who follow their teachings "sheep" or "sheep like ones".
how offensive is that?!?!
Only if someone uses the term "sheep" when trying to "flock" me and pull the wool over my eyes.
Auntie Flame
this may have come up before in discussion so my apologies if it old stuff.
interesting point that the district overseer seemed to make a distinction between the governing body and the faithful and discreet slave class.
when i was growing up it was always the same thing.
uhm.....I thought GB stands for Governing Borganizers and FDS is a Feminine Deodorant Spray..

i'm seeking to connect with anyone in southeast texas to mideast texas area that's disf'd or disa'd
it's always good to find others who understand where we've been without having to explain or rehash everything we've done or said that may seem eccentric to someone who hasn't "been there" .
it would be nice to meet others with an "in common" background and enough chutzpah to leave the xjw baggage in the closet most of the time.
Thanks, Jesika. Yes, I *was* surprised at the number of responses....though I figure there *has to* be many, many more out there that aren't aware of the support provided for XJWs online. It took me 7 yrs. to find the support online that's available now.
Thank you for the welcome. I'm looking forward to posting and reading others' posts...there seem to be a lot of terrific people on this forum.
I'll look forward to possibly being able to attend the apostafest after the one this March. It looks like my "dance card" is already pretty full for that month...LOL!

No, Elsewhere, I don't recall the Gladdens...the name doesn't sound familiar....are they residents of Beaumont? I left for California in 1988, so I haven't really been a part of "things borg-like" in this area for 15 yrs.
I remember the Halls, the Gandys, the Peytons, the Moutons, the Robinsons, the Maggios, and many others I remember by their faces, tho their names now elude me...(lotsa senior moments..LOL!)

when we were in the org, we had to watch our language, and speak correctly and never swear.
people knew we were jw's just by the way we dressed, but also by the way we talked.
do you still talk in the same polite way as before?edited by - jh on 4 february 2003 19:29:28.
Not if I don't have to. But better than using the normally profane, I try to be innovative when referring to special circumstances.....like....the sheep being "flocked" in the ria and fleeced by the Gov. Potty....the Gov. Potty's repeatedly premature articulation re: the advent of Harm-a-gettin'.....and the Gov. Potty's predilection (sp?) towards producing REAMS of "toilette" paper via the mags, which words have proven to be hypocritical especially in the case of their stances on the United Nations and child molesters within their borganization, along with many other brazenly inaccurate doctrinal isn'ts, so that now their words just don't "flush"...heheheh

WOWOW! What a turnout! Elsewhere, Valis (terrific map there), Lyin Eyes, Country Girl (cuddlin up with that emu in Elgin.. ;) ....nice to meet yall...I live in Beaumont, so you could probably add me to that map, Valis....
Sorry to say, I already have two trips planned in March, one to a very special xjw support group "festa"....and since I already work 6 12 hr shifts at night each week, time is at a premium for me this March....So when is the next one scheduled? I'd be pleased to be included if my work schedule permits in the future.
I was born in Houston and my father's fam still mostly lives there....I was raised in Beaumont, but didn't become borganized until I was living in Dallas (around Garland, Plano) about 1973...I was there for a few years, but left and moved back "home" to Beaumont, where I'm pretty well known by the local witlesses....I moved to California in 1988 and got deborganized there in 1992.
Yall are SO NICE to welcome me like this...THANK YOU!

hi, just wanted to get acquainted a little bit.
i already jumped in and posted a couple of times.
i've been out for 13 yrs.
WOWOW! What a welcome! ROFL! Yall're right though....I chose this handle because I really don't like "flame wars" online. They're a waste of valuable energy.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you ALL!
I just turned 57 yrs. and I can hardly wait to get to know yall better...You seem like such a personable group of people
I don't know about the apostafest in March, but I already have two trips planned in March, one to an XJW support group fest....and since I work 6 12 hr. shifts at night each week, time is at a premium for me. Perhaps there will be another apostafest before too long....I'm truly beginning to enjoy my "pause to see"...heheheh

I've been out for 13 yrs. My exodus began with a huge identity crisis, but thankfully I finally got over it. I think the fears instilled in me over a period of almost 20 yrs. were the hardest to overcome, but I'm finally free. And glad to be here.

out of all the wrong things the watchtower society has taught, which do you feel are the worst?
Fear!
of self....of brothers and sisters...of failure...of authorities, including those in oversight....of knowledge....of ignorance....of being disapproved by our peers....of not measuring up in everyone else's eyes...of weaknesses....of imperfections, both on our own parts and on the parts of others....of a group of earthling men.
